From The (E)-Mail Bag: Davening Difficulty

TZ from Monsey writes: What do you suggest for an adult who is learning how to daven but has a hard time understanding what the words mean? It’s difficult for her to go back and forth between the Hebrew page and the English page. She says sometimes she gets lost or loses her place.

ArtScroll Blogger Answers: I’m assuming from your description that your friend can read the Hebrew adequately. The Interlinear Siddur may be the simplest solution if your friend is comfortable with looking as needed at English text under the Hebrew text. Many people (the ArtScroll Blogger included) prefer the Interlinear for the simple reason that the English is right there when needed and no time or concentration is lost while davening.

We posted a sample page from the Interlinear Siddur recently. You can see it HERE.
